June 9th in Berlin we will moderate the Disruption Network Lab's meetup "Fighting Technologies of Domination from decentralised event platforms to the right to analogue." During the meetup we will discuss the right to analogue with Roberta Barone (AI Ethics and Governance Expert and Advocate, IT/DE). After the discussion there will be a hands-on session with Balotta Collective to delve deeper into the exploration of Gancio, a free open-source software designed for event publishing. During the workshop we will use the website Balotta.org as a case study to show how Gancio can be implemented and used for and by local organisations. Balotta.org is a shared calendar for the city of Bologna, Italy. We will look at the political reasons for its creation and how these have evolved over time, as well as explaining our moderation process and the decision to print a paper version. We will describe Gancio's interface, including submitting an event as an anonymous user and browsing the admin dashboard. Lunedì 13 maggio a Roma, in Via della Dogana Vecchia 5, dalle ore 17:30, l'incontro, organizzato dalla Scuola critica del digitale del CRS e dal ForumDD, per la presentazione del libro di Juan Carlos De Martin "Contro lo smartphone. Per una tecnologia più democratica" (add editore). Ne discutono con l’autore Giulio De Petra, Maurizio "Graffio" Mazzoneschi e Teresa Numerico. Lo smartphone è la macchina che ha segnato di più questa prima parte del secolo. Inventato appena sedici fa e diffusosi capillarmente in modo rapidissimo soprattutto negli ultimi dieci anni, è usato oggi da oltre quattro miliardi di persone. Nel giro di pochi anni siamo arrivati a una situazione in cui la metà della popolazione mondiale possiede e usa quotidianamente centinaia di volte, per l’equivalente di 4-5 ore al giorno, una macchina sofisticata che quindici anni fa nemmeno esisteva. Pochi, però, colgono un aspetto strabiliante di questo successo: lo smartphone è diventato, di fatto se non ancora per legge, necessario.
